Jo Vargas, born in Colombia, is a multidisciplinary multimedia artist using classical and contemporary codes to develop artworks.
His research led him to dialogue with robots programmed to do primary works and releasing them on pictorial surfaces covered by painting. In this practice of immersion into artificial intelligence, which he named Robometry in reference to the Anthropometries of Yves Klein, Jo Vargas invites us to (re)think the fundamental metaphysical questions.
In 2018, Jo Vargas lent us one of his side experiments for the occasion of the VISION ART FESTIVAL GOLF TROPHY. This representation of the former US President Donald Trump (size 1:1) made out of Papier-mâché (mostly newspapers) was a way to explore the concept of Piñatas… A few days later, this sculpture was happily destroyed by the population in a dance party.
