GAËLLE VEJLUPEK

Gaëlle Vejlupek is a Switzerland-based illustrator and fine artist residing in the picturesque town of Vevey. Her artistic journey has been shaped by a lifelong fascination with folklore, nature, and the mysterious beauty of the mountains.

Gaëlle works primarily with ink on paper, embracing its unpredictable and permanent nature to create otherworldly illustrations. Her unique style marries dark poetry with peaceful storytelling, drawing inspiration from childhood dreams, symbolism, and the enigmatic allure of forests and nightscapes.

Her universe is populated by strange and offbeat creatures born from the folklore of her surroundings and her vivid imagination. She is passionate about blending the metaphoric language of folktales with her own surreal vision, crafting work that resonates deeply with viewers.

Gaëlle’s artistic process is a balance between structure and spontaneity. While initial sketches serve as loose guides, she allows her creativity to unfold freely in her final pieces. Her dedication to ink stems from its ability to produce both sharp details and smooth gradients, pushing her technical and creative boundaries with each stroke.

In addition to her illustrations, Gaëlle has worked on book covers and other commissioned pieces, where her talent for merging imagery and storytelling shines. She values the interplay of personal artistic expression and the narrative demands of her projects, always aiming to serve the story above all.

When not at her light-filled studio, Gaëlle can be found exploring the great outdoors – walking, camping under the stars, or connecting with nature, which continues to inspire her artistic vision.
